March 2020...

I am teaching Online Classes!

I've had them every day since Thursday March 19.

I have to admit, I was nervous about online classes at first. I didn't know that I would enjoy teaching them, and I didn't expect them to be popular. I've been nervously preparing for online classes since January (when parents started asking me if I will offer online classes because of what we now know as COVID-19).

The classes have been very well received by students and parents. I, enthusiastically, added 3 more classes Monday-Wednesday.

We have classes 7 days a week (8 total). These classes are good for Intermediate-Advanced players who want to improve their tournament play.

Our free online tournaments are happening almost daily (I will add a Sunday time soon). For about 2 years, they used to be only Wednesdays.

We have class options for new students, even though this was originally created to be a substitution for our Spring 2020 semester. All classes are taught by me, National Master Jeffrey Ashton, the founder/owner/organizer of Panda Chess Academy (which I plan to reopen as soon as it's safe!).

Summer Camps 2020

Also, I've had Summer Camp details available since February, but I delayed advertising them.

Here they are.

I understand that people will either be social distancing this summer, or rushing to get back to normal activities. If you sign up early, please know that I have a reputation for being fair and flexible. I might offer more camps later in the summer if things get pushed back, or offer online camps, maybe both, and I will try to do everything I can possibly do to be fair and not take undeserved payment. But if you are interested, please register early.

Consistent Experience: Our 1st tournament (about 12 years ago) looks identical to our most recent tournament. You can see 12 years worth of photos here.

Efficient: We respect your time. We do not have opening or closing ceremonies (we do have a trophy for 1st place). Players (and parents) can expect to show up at 6:29pm on a Friday and have the tournament begin at 6:30pm. We use software to look up all of our player's weekly USCF rating, and we have all of our players use a short, online entry form: Enter a Tournament!
